Detecting Software Usage in your network

Desktop Central's agent component extracts a variety of software asset details, from the managed computers. The collated information, which is inclusive of the Frequent/Occasional/Rare usage details of the software, is sent to the Desktop Central Server periodically. Based on the usage level of particular software in a computer, administrators can derive a complete picture of the used and unused software in the network. Software Metering Engine

In addition to showing the information of software usage as Frequent/Occasional/Rare, which is retrieved from the Windows OS, it also features its own software metering engine. Administrators will be able to define software metering rules for all the software for which they have to track the usages. The information is then collected and collated in the form of a report, Application Metering Rules. This report will have the complete information on how many installations of the software were detected, the usage count and the duration of use in hours.

"Software Usage by Computer" Report

Software usage by Computer report throws light on the frequency (Rarely/Occasionally/Frequently) at which software are utilized in the organization. The details shown on the report include the Software Name, Software Version, Software Vendor, Software License Type and the computer on which the software is installed. The report can also be exported in PDF and CSV file formats.
